Talala Elementary is excited to announce that Stacey Schwuchow has joined us as the new principal, effective July 1, 2024. With 36 years of committed service in education, she brings a wealth of experience to our school. She began her career as an elementary classroom teacher, serving Lake Central School Corporation in St. John for 18 years. Stacey then spent 2 years as a dean and assistant principal at Tri-Creek School Corporation in Lowell, Indiana, followed by roles as principal at Tri-Creek, Duneland, and North Newton.
She holds an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Purdue Calumet University and a graduate degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from Ball State University, where she earned her K-12 license.
Stacey resides in Crown Point, Indiana, with her husband Paul. They have two sons: Bryce, 28, married to Lauren, and Braedon, 18, a nursing student at Purdue University. In her spare time, Stacey enjoys knitting, reading, and gardening. The family also loves exploring state parks, with their most recent trip being to Acadia National Park in Maine.
Stacey’s professional goals are to foster academic growth and strengthen relationships between the school and its community. She is excited to connect with the staff, students, and parents while getting to know the school community better. With a student-centered focus, she aims to develop new pathways for learning and student growth. She is eager to collaborate with everyone involved to enhance educational experiences and support student success.
